Seahawks rule the Pro Bowl
Unfortunately, Seattle won’t get a chance at redemption in the Super Bowl, but seven Seahawks had a winning weekend in the Aloha State. Russell Wilson proved himself worthy of his No. 1 overall draft selection to the all-star game. The Seattle QB was named offensive MVP after leading team (Michael) Irvin to a 49-27 victory in Honolulu. Wilson completed eight passes (164 yards) and threw three first-half touchdowns. Seattle DE Michael Bennett, who had the only sack of the game, earned defensive MVP honors.
The Seahawks and other pro bowlers also had the added bonus of not having to look at Cam Newton’s pants…
Championship Prediction
There’s still some football to be played, but the Panthers received encouraging news today about Super Bowl 50. The Madden NFL team predicted that Carolina will defeat the Denver Broncos by a score of 24-20 this Sunday. Despite his clothing choices, Newton will be named the MVP (216 yards, 1 TD). Madden NFL has correctly projected nine of the last 12 Super Bowls, gaining a reputation as one of the most accurate forecasts. Last year, Madden called the final score (28-24) and correctly guessed that Tom Brady would take home the MVP award.
Warriors Win Again
Draymond Green posted his 9th career triple double of the season and the Warriors cruised to a 116-95 win over the New York Knicks on Sunday. Carmleo Anthony failed, though he creatively tried, to stop Steph Curry.
Buddy Bests Ben
Buddy Hield and Ben Simmons have remained top candidates for the Wooden Award since college basketball tipped off in November. Hield’s Oklahoma Sooners traveled to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, over the weekend however, and left the Bayou with a big win. While LSU’s Simmons could very well be the first overall pick in the 2016 NBA draft, his Tigers fell short in their weekend showdown. Oklahoma won a close game 87-85, but Hield may have solidified his place as the Wooden Award front runner. The 6'4'' senior scored 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds. He was also the decoy that opened up a last second shot for teammate Antonio Blakeney.
Greatest Weekend Win
This little girl beat Billy Hamilton in a race and collected his jersey in the process. The Reds outfielder stole the second-most bases in the MLB last year.
