Day 1 at the 2014 MLB All-Star Game

2014 mlb all-star game day 1

We arrived at the airport, got set up at the hotel, and made our way to Target Field in the pouring rain. I am not use to seeing rain like this in Southern California, where I'm from. But we caught a glimpse of the stadium and we were able to get out of the rain by going inside the Majestic Clubhouse Store.

Sweet.

I got my first look at the official merchandise. Everyone was helpful and we were lucky enough to meet someone who introduced us to the Skyway so that we could stay out of the rain. It's an awesome indoor maze. You can walk around the city building to building. It seemed futuristic to me, but to people who live and work here it's a necessity: It keeps them out of the cold and snow in the winter.

Next up was FanFest at the convention center. Awesome. There was lots of memorabilia and activities for kids and adults. You could practice your hitting, throwing, catching, pitching, and even your sliding. It was a pleasure for me to meet Hall of Famer JaunMarichal and also take a selfie with TC, the Twins Mascot.

When we finished at FanFest, it was dinner time and we set off to find a cab to go and get something to eat. The sun came out and we were greeted by a free shuttle service that would take us anywhere within five miles. We didn't have to walk any more, which was great for our sore and tired feet!

What a great day. I am looking forward to Day 2 and the Futures Game!
