Monday Afterschool Special: Bon Voyage, Peyton

Peyton Manning retires

Broncos QB Peyton Manning announced his retirement today at a press conference. He leaves with NFL records in passing yards (71,940), passing touchdowns (539), and SI Kids appearances (I think). He's also going out on top after winning his second Super Bowl, despite a regular season in which he battled injuries and lost his starting job to Brock Osweiler.

So let's remember Peyton Manning the best way we know how, with this sculpture of him that once appeared on our Gotta-Get-It Guide cover:

Look at little baby Eli!

The Lakers beat the Warriors?!?

When the Lakers (.190 winning percentage) took on the Warriors (.917) it looked liked the biggest give-away game of the NBA season. That was, until the Warriors shot 4–30 from three-point range and turned the ball over 20 times. Yup, L.A. beat Golden State and it wasn't even close: 112–95. Stephen Curry was ice cold from deep, going 1–10 on his threes, while Jordan Clarkson and DeAngelo Russell lead the way for the Lakers with 25 and 21 points, respectively.

Unsurprisingly, it was the first time in NBA history that a sub-.200 winning percentage team beat a .900+ team. And yet somehow, the Warriors, at 55–6 are still one game ahead of pace for the all-time Bulls record of 72–10. The Spurs also still have a shot at 53–9.
