Video Highlights Paul Rabil and Indoor Lacrosse

Earlier this week, we brought you a profile of Paul Rabil, the biggest star in lacrosse. Rabil is a beast of the outdoor game, and his accomplishments on the field are a big part of the story. But an equally important part of his career is that he plays the indoor game, too.

As a member of the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League, Rabil is one of only a handful of lacrosse players who play in both the indoor NLL and outdoor Major League Lacrosse. (He plays for the Boston Cannons of the MLL.) There are differences between the two types of lacrosse — the arena game has a smaller playing area, the action is five-on-five, and the goalies are bigger and the nets smaller. But playing the indoor game has had a real impact on Rabil's outdoor success.

"It’s helped me a lot with my stick skills because you have to deal with more physicality in tighter spaces and with smaller targets," he says. "So you really work on softer hands abd the ability to handle the stick in tight situations. And that just gives you more opportunity to excel at the field game, the more comfortable you are with your stick, the faster you can always move and execute."

Back in March, The Lacrosse Network spotlighted Rabil and the Wings as they prepared for gameday. The video doesn't focus on Rabil exclusively, but it's a cool inside look at Rabil's role on the team, indoor lacrosse, and how different it can be from outdoor lacrosse. Check it out below:
