Slime Time at the Kids Choice Sports Awards!
Nickelodeon handed out its first Kids' Choice Sports Awards last night, and it was a party full of stars, blimps, and, of course, slime!
The winners were determined by kids who casted votes online from June 18 - July 17. And they chose Kevin Durant as Best Male Athlete, Gabby Douglas as Best Female Athlete, and Dwyane Wade and Douglas as the King and Queen of Swag. There were categories in all, and every winner received the trademark orange Nickelodeon blimp handed out at the other Kids Choice Awards — except the Sports trophies were topped with a fuzzy orange mohawk.
Of course, this being Kids Choice, those blimps didn't stay orange for long. Everyone from host Michael Strahan to Seahawks Marshawn Lynch got covered in green slime during the show. There was also a slime dunk tank on stage. Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald got to drop Seahawks defensive back Earl Thomas III into the vat of slime — and then Strahan turned the tables and dunked Fitzgerald into the goo!
Soccer legend David Beckham got slimed, too, but it was a special kind of slime. He received the first Legends Award and a gold mohawked blimp for everything he has accomplished on the pitch. And as he was giving his acceptance speech with his sons by his side, they got Nick's first ever gold sliming. (It kind of made them look like bronze statues.)
The night was rounded out by a "halftime show" performance by Florida Georgia Line and the Kids' Choice Sports Half-Court Shot Contest. In front of a live audience and millions of viewers at home, 15-year-old Ricardo Jacobo Jr. nailed a half-court shot to win $50,000!
