Signature Moments: Best Finishes

The 2009 college football season has provided its share of fantastic finishes. Here are a dozen of our favorites, beginning with Iowa-Michigan State. Trailing the Spartans by four with 1:37 remaining, Ricky Stanzi (left) led the Hawekeyes on a 10-play, 70-yard drive, culminating on a 7-yard touchdown pass as time expired as Iowa remained undefeated.

Terrence Cody (62) blocked a 44-yard field goal attempt by the Volunteers' Daniel Lincoln on the final play, his second block of the fourth quarter, as the Crimson Tide improved to 8-0.

Erik Folk hit a 22-yard field goal with three seconds left as the Huskies beat the then-third-ranked Trojans. It was Washington's first win over USC since 2001, Pete Carroll's first season as Trojans coach.

Tyrod Taylor (right inset) completed an 81-yard pass to Danny Coale (left inset), then on the game-winning touchdown pass, scrambled for nine seconds before hitting Dyrell Roberts for an 11-yard score with 21 seconds remaining.

Freshman Tate Forcier hit Greg Mathews for a 5-yard touchdown with 11 seconds to go in just his second career start as the Wolverines rallied to win the highest-scoring game in the series' history.

After a potential game-winning two-point conversion failed, the Chippewas recovered an on-side kick with 29 seconds remaining. Four plays later, Andrew Aguila hit a 47-yard field goal with eight seconds left to give Central Michigan the win.

After combining for 13 points in the first 57 minutes, the Bulldogs and Tigers combined for three touchdowns in the final three minutes, capped by Charles Scott's 33-yard run with 46 seconds on the clock.

A Ricky Dobbs' (inset) TD with 2:23 remaining put the Midshipmen within a two-point conversion of tying the Buckeyes in Columbus. But Navy went away from its triple-option, lining up in the spread and Ohio State's Brian Rolle intercepted the pass, running it back for two Buckeyes' points.

With 22 seconds to go, the Bulldogs' Rennie Curran (35) batted away South Carolina's would-be game-winning touchdown pass on fourth down at the seven to seal Georgia's win.

Facing second-and-19 on the USC 5-yard-line, the Trojans went 95 yards in 14 plays as Stafon Johnson capped the drive with a 2-yard touchdown run with 1:05 remaining to give the Buckeyes their sixth straight loss against a top-five team.

The Cougars' Max Hall engineered a 16-play, 78-yard drive, converting on a fourth-and-4 and hitting McKay Jacobson (inset) for a 7-yard touchdown with 3:03 to go up 14-13. The Sooners would miss a 54-yard go-ahead field goal with 1:23 on the clock.

Houston earned its second win of the season over a Big 12 team as Case Keenum ended a 95-yard touchdown drive with a 4-yard keeper with 49 seconds left. The Red Raiders had a chance, but Taylor Potts' throw on the last play was broken up.
