Dallas RB Emmitt Smith (pictured here with Eddie Payton) rushes for 109 yards to surpass Walter Payton as the NFL's all-tme rushing leader. Smith finishes the 2002 season with 17,162 rushing yards.

The Red Sox win their first World Series since 1918 by sweeping the Cardinals in four games.
