Sabres, Wild, and Sharks Unveil New Jerseys

While most of the sports world was focused on the start of football season (and thatincludesus), three NHL teams unveiled new looks for the 2013-14 season. The Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, and San Jose Sharks all revealed jersey updates over the past few weeks.

Let's get caught up, shall we?

The most recent jersey debut came last week, when Sabres forward StevOtt "stole" and "leaked" the team's new third jersey. Buffalo had been teasing its latest sweater on social media, and Ott got tired of waiting. The jersey is primarily yellow with blue and gray and the word "Buffalo" above the crest. But on the reverse, the jersey is blue with yellow lettering and gray numbering. It's a pretty big departure from the team's traditional blue home and white road jerseys, and it bears a striking resemblance to what the Nashville Predators where on the ice. We're bound to get cleaner looks at the jersey in the days ahead, but for now here's Ott modeling the new look:

A couple days before the Sabres reveal, the Minnesota Wild debuted a new white road jersey. The new away sweaters have a classic look, with a green shoulder bar featuring the team's secondary logo, lacing at the top, stripes on the sleeves and waist, and an overall simple green, red, and white color scheme. Here's a closer look:

Finally, the Sharks unveiled a wholesale overall of their jerseys on August 20. Both home and away jerseys have been stripped down to the essentials: A chest crest, the same shark logo on the shoulders, the player's number on the top right of the chest, lacing, stripes on the sleeves, and that's it. Check out a video about the new sweaters on the Sharks' website.

When the NHL season begins in October, the Sharks, Wild, and Sabres will join the Hurricanes and Stars with new on-ice looks. Add to those the throwback jerseys teams will wear when they play outdoor games this year and you have a lot of new sweaters. Which new jersey do you like best?
