Best. Day. Ever.

You ever have one of those amazing days, when it feels like you can do no wrong and everything you want to happen happens? Well, the US had one of those days yesterday when athletes representing the stars and stripes brought home six medals, a new record, including three golds.

If you didn’t tune in to the show, here’s what you missed:

Lindsey was Vonn-derful
Lindsey Vonn won the women's downhill and teammate Julia Mancuso nabbed a silver. It was just a few days ago that Vonn wasn’t sure she’d even ski, because of a shin injury. Well, she didn’t look injured at all, blowing away the competition and showing just why she was the gold medal favorite from the start.

A shiny medal for Shani
Shani Davis became the first speed skater to win the 1,000m twice. He too was joined on the podium by a teammate, bronze medalist Chad Hedrick. Davis took some heat for dropping out of the 500m, but maintaining his focus on his best event was clearly the way to go.

Piping Hot
Perhaps the most exciting haul of the day came on the half pipe where Shaun White and Scotty Lago took gold and bronze medals. White was so insanely good in his first run that there was no doubt he’d win gold. So what did he do? Wowed the crowd with his signature move, the Double McTwist 1260, in his second run.

This was an awesome day for the USA in the Olympics and hopefully the winning catches on. Lindsey Vonn goes for gold again today, the US men’s hockey team takes the ice against Norway, while the women face off against Finland, and there are medals on the line in women’s half pipe and men’s figure skating.
