On Sunday, the four teams that will play in the first-ever College Football Playoff will be decided. Who will make it?
I will be at the news conference when the Selection Committee announces their picks. It should be really exciting as they reveal their top four. Whoever is ranked No. 1 and No. 4 will play in one semifinal game, and the teams ranked No. 2 and No. 3 will play in the other one. Then those two winners will meet in the national championship at AT&T Stadium on Jan. 12.
There are six teams still in the running to make it. All are playing this weekend. Here is how they are ranked right now:
4)Florida State (12-0)
5)Ohio State (11-1)
Here is how I think they will wind up:
1)Alabama — They are the best team in the best conference.
2)Oregon —They are very dominant, exciting, and fun to watch.
3)Florida State — They may be playing a little sloppy, and are not winning by a lot, but they are the defending national champions and are undefeated. I think they will move up with a big win over Georgia Tech in the ACC Championship.
4)This one is down to TCU, Baylor, and Ohio State.
Ohio State is down to its third-string quarterback, Cardale Jones, following injuries to star Braxton Miller and his replacement, J.T. Barrett. Barrett did a great job of filling in, but I just don’t see a third-string quarterback leading the Buckeyes into the Final Four. So that leaves TCU and Baylor. The Committee already has TCU ahead of Baylor, even though Baylor won when they played each other. But I think things will change this weekend, and the Bears will climb up to the No. 4 spot.
That’s my prediction. Check back on Sunday to see who will be the Final Four teams in the first-ever College Football Playoff National Championship!
