Early-Season Surprises in the NBA

Image placeholder title

Already this year there have been many surprises in the NBA.

A few teams have already made impacts on their respected divisions, but there are two teams that stick out to me. One is the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks have been led by new rookie point guard Brandon Jennings. Jennings is averaging 24.2 points per game and 5.7 assists per game. The Bucks have also gotten help from center Andrew Bogut and shooting guard Michael Redd. Milwaukee has jumped to an 8-4 start and is second in the Central division.

Another team that has made a very convincing and surprising start is the Phoenix Suns. This year the Suns have played very aggressively and are getting breakout performances from Jason Richardson and Channing Frye. The Suns currently have an 11-3 record, tied for the best in the NBA.

Another big story in the NBA have been the teams that are struggling. This year the New Jersey Nets have not yet won a game and are on course to have the worst start in NBA history. Meanwhile, the Minnesota Timberwolves have only won one game this season.

The final big story in the NBA has been the injuries surrounding several top draft choices this year. Blake Griffin, who was taken first overall by the LA Clippers, has not yet played a game in the regular season because of a broken knee. Another key injury was Hasheem Thabeet of the Memphis Grizzlies. Thabeet broke his jaw earlier in the season and missed several games because of it.

Despite all of the early struggles for many teams, the season is just getting started and anything can happen.
