Day 2 at the 2014 MLB All-Star Game

Yesterday, I had an incredible opportunity as a SI Kid Reporter.  I was allowed into the Twins Clubhouse to interview 12 top MLB prospects who were about to play on Team USA in the Futures Game.

They were all were very happy to be playing in the Futures’ game and were very excited about their future in the MLB.

I asked the future stars “What was the hardest part of your journey to the MLB?,” and many of them talked about how important it is to never give up no matter how hard things get, and never let anyone tell you that you cannot do something.

After the clubhouse interviews, I went on the field and talked to players of the World Team and watched batting practice. During batting practice Joey Gallo hit a home run past the stands and hit the windshield a red Chevy Silverado that was being displayed in the stadium.

Fans at Target Field snapped pictures of the car and it's broken windshield, and during the game Gallo hit a home run in almost the same spot. Maybe tonight it will get hit again at the Home Run Derby.

The Futures Game was exciting, with the US winning, 3-2. But the icing on the cake was that Baseball Hall of Famer Dave Winfield was there to watch the action and gave me an interview!
