CCM Debuts New Hockey Skills App

The dog days of summer might seem like a strange time to start thinking about hockey. But if you play the sport, you know there’s never really an offseason — you’re always training, always working on your skills, and always trying to get better. And it’s in that spirit that CCM Hockey created it’s new hockey skills app.

Launching today, the app is like having a hockey coach in your pocket. It delivers a series of drills and workouts designed to help you improve your abilities with the puck, from dribbling and dekes to shooting and passing. You’re guided through the drills by former NHLer and Online Hockey Training Stickhandling and Shooting Specialist Lance Pitlick. Some big-time NHL stars also show up, like Sidney Crosby (who introduces the app) and Connor McDavid.

Most of the drills are quick-hit, running between 20-25 seconds. Once you watch it, you’re prompted to try it yourself. Here’s one example:

There are more than 20 training pods in the app, structured around different benchmarks like making the youth team, scoring a big goal, and offseason work. Different parts of the app are unlocked once you watch certain videos and complete specific tasks. All that information is collected in the app through trophies, awards, and a player card.

Baseball, basketball, football, tennis, and golf all have excellent resources for kids (and adults) who want to improve their game — or just learn how to play. And now, finally, hockey has one, too.

The CCM Hockey Skills App is available for download in the Apple App Store and Google Play.
