Robot Throws Out First Pitch in Arizona

The Arizona Diamondbacks added one more moment to this season's growing list of creative first pitches. Before their game with the Washington Nationals at Chase Field last night, the D'backs invited students from the Paradise Valley High School Robotics Club to take the field for the ceremonial opening throw. But it wasn't the kids who did the honors — it was their robot, Bruce.

Decked out in Diamondbacks gear, Bruce rolled up to the base of the mound, students loaded a ball into Bruce's catapult-like arm, and he launched it toward home plate, where rookie outfielder Ender Inciarte caught the ball:

Not a lot of style in that throw. But Bruce at least got it over the plate. That's more than you can say for a lot of humans who get to throw out the first pitch!

So far this season we've had Batman, Darth Vader, a dinosaur, and a robot throwing out first pitches. Who — or what — would you like to see throw out the first pitch at your favorite team's game? Let us know in the comments section below!
