The Force is Strong with the Durham Bulls

If you say the date May 4, it sounds like one of the famous lines in the Star Wars saga: May the Fourth be with you. So every May 4, people around the world — or at least on the Internet — celebrate Star Wars. But no one goes harder than minor league baseball, right Durham Bulls?

The Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays has an annual Star Wars night (in fact, a lot ofminor leagueclubs do), and last night it announced for 2014 the Bulls will wear special uniforms that will make them look like R2-D2.

In past years, the team has invited characters like Darth Vader and Chewbacca to the park and worn special outer-space-themed jerseys. But the droid duds they've got planned for this season are truly out of this world. And after the game, the uniforms will be auctioned off to benefit the Autism Society of North Carolina.

The Fourth, er, Force is strong with this team.

Update: Not to be outdone, the Kane County Cougars, a class-A club affiliated with the Chicago Cubs, announced that they'll be wearing Star Wars-themed jerseys, too — on May 2 AND August 30. On those nights, the Cougars will become Wookies:
