Last night, the Cumberland Americans from Rhode Island were bounced from the Little League World Series by the team from Chicago, 8-7. And of course, the kids on the team took the loss pretty hard. But when the game was over, Americans coach David Belisle gathered his team together and delivered one of the all-time great inspirational speeches:
This should be required viewing for every coach at every level of sports. (And "Heads Up High" should be a message posted in every locker room in the world.) Coach Belisle doesn't scream or blame anyone or point fingers. He simply give his team encouragement, tells them good job, and lifts up his kids up when they're at their lowest moment.
Every kid — every athlete — should be so lucky as to have a coach like Coach Belisle.
