10 Questions with…Ryan Sheckler

As a world renown skateboarder and TV star Ryan Sheckler is one busy guy. Recently, he tore himself away from his hectic schedule and traveled to New York City for an Oakley store opening—the same company that has sponsored the daredevil since he was seven. Sheckler has awesome spin moves and can skate handrails, but can he handle our 10 questions? Keep reading to find out….

What time is your alarm set for?

I don’t set an alarm. I have a dog and he wakes me up at 6:45 AM or 7 AM every morning, so he’s my alarm clock.

Chocolate, Vanilla, or Strawberry ice cream?

Chocolate. All day. It’s the best!

What was your childhood nickname?

Ry-Dog. My dad gave it to me.

If you weren’t an athlete, what would you want to do?

I’ve always been active, so if I wasn’t skateboarding I’d be surfing or car racing. Something active and dangerous for sure.

What is your favorite city to compete in?

LA. It’s the atmosphere of being in the hometown crowd and every year the X Games happen at the Staples Center so I get some of that Laker love.

What do you do on days off?

Surf. But I really never have a free day.

Who is the greatest athlete of all-time?

That’s a hard question! Michael Jordan. But Kobe Bryant is a close second.

Who is your best friend in sports?

[Motocross star] Travis Pastrana. We’ve been friends since I was 10 years old.

What is the last item that you purchased?

A John Varvatos dinner jacket. I like everything he makes.

Do you have a good luck charm?

My family. Whenever they are around it’s always a good time.
