At Fenway Park, Lego introduced it’s more-than-life-size statue of Big Pap made out of Lego bricks. The super-realistic monument immortalizes Ortiz in his signature post-home run stance. It was constructed with 34,510 bricks, took 290 hours to build, weighs 170 pounds, and stands at 6’7”. The tallest point is the top of his left finger, so the statue is basically life-size.
Lego Ortiz is the star of today’s Lego Day at Fenway, and it will be installed permanently in the legendary stadium. So kids (and adults) can be reminded of the real Ortiz’s accomplishments long after he stops playing.
