Yesterday, I told you to get excited for the big Warriors/Spurs showdown. Whoops! The Warriors crushed their conference rivals, 120–90. Stephen Curry lead the way with 37 points, despite being guarded by defensive ace Kawhi Leonard for most of the game. The ever-clever Gregg Popovich's comment after the game? "We almost got 'em":
DeMarcus Cousins scored 56 points, a Kings record, in Sacramento's 129–128 double overtime loss to the Hornets.
Despite getting out to a 2–0 lead in the first set, Maria Sharapova lost to Serena Williams 6–4, 6–1, her 18th-straight loss to the world's No. 1 player. Williams will now advance to face Agnieszka Radwanska in the semifinals. She is 8–0 for her career against Radwanska.
Meanwhile, on the men's side, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer both won their quarterfinals matches and will now meet in the semis. The two legends have faced off 44 times, and are currently tied, 22–22!
A day after Ottawa's Bobby Ryan scored a goal that earned a lucky fan a dog, Columbus' Cam Atkinson pulled off an even more impressive feat. When a girl in the stands asked for a goal to get her a puppy, Atkinson scored a hat trick!
The Rogers Area Youth Basketball Association girls high school team has been sidelined by their league for being too dominant. According to a letter sent to the players' parents, the talented squad has been banned because "their skill level is higher than other teams'." Their coach indicated to Fox 9 that teams were threatening to quit in protest rather than continue facing the Rogers Area girls.
