Dallas Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett says wide receiver Dez Bryant has a hairline fracture in one of the bones in his knee.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Bryant could miss three games, including this weekend's contest against the San Francisco 49ers.
According to multiple media reports, Bryant did not show up for a treatment session on Monday and also missed meetings on Tuesday, leading to the team getting MRI results late. Bryant was fined for missing the meetings.
Bryant did not talk to the media Thursday about the missed MRI, but did address the situation on Twitter.
Bryant was hurt on the second play of the Cowboys' 31–17 win over the Chicago Bears when linebacker Christian Jones got a hold of him on an 11-yard gain. He continued to play and finished the day with three catches and 40 yards, including one touchdown.
"I don't want to get into the whole medical procedure," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said. "We have this information now with Dez, and we're going to take his situation day by day. We'll evaluate his status for the game as the week goes on."
Bryant, who has 11 catches for 150 yards and one touchdowns in 2016, missed nine games last season with a broken foot.
