Titans receiver Tajae Sharpe’s celebration after a 33-yard touchdown catch seemed pretty innocent but it broke a clear rule.
The touchdown was the first of Sharpe’s career and he celebrated by pretending to sleep in the end zone. It wasn’t an elaborate celebration, but NFL rules clearly prohibit going to the ground while celebrating.
in case you were wondering, pretending to take a nap is also a penalty in the NFL pic.twitter.com/eRobrdHwCu— Mike Tunison (@xmasape) November 13, 2016
Touchdown celebrations have been a point of emphasis for the NFL this season, with officials throwing flags during the game and the league handing out fines after the fact. Giants defensive end Owa Odighizuwa was fined $12,154 for pretending to take a photo of a teammate.
