Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson says his team’s 73-win season is a failure without a championship.
The Warriors led the series 3–1 but have dropped consecutive games to the Cavs, who have rallied behind a dominant LeBron James to force a winner-take-all contest. Thompson scored 25 points in Game 6, but the Warriors were overpowered by James and the Cavs for much of the night. No team has ever come back from being down 3–1 in the NBA Finals.
Golden State set an NBA record with 73 regular-season wins, and can win back-to-back titles with a victory on Sunday. The 72-win Chicago Bulls, the previous holder of the regular season wins record, defeated the Seattle SuperSonics in the 1996 Finals.
Game 7 is Sunday night in Oakland.
