Chris Davis’s towering three-run shot in the ninth inning off Craig Kimbrel gave the Orioles a 9–6 win over the Red Sox on Friday, and helped them to their first 6–0 start in franchise history.
With two on and two out, Davis took an 0-1 fastball from the Boston closer out a projected 426 feet out to dead center. According to Statcast, the ball left his bat at 111 mph.
Baltimore swept the Twins at home to begin the season, and took two games from the Rays sandwiched around a postponement.
Brad Brach earned the win in relief, improving to 2–0.
