The Arizona Diamondbacks have called up top prospect Braden Shipley, the team announced.
Shipley, a 24-year-old righthanded pitcher, will start on Monday against the Milwaukee Brewers. A first-round pick in the 2012 draft, Shipley fell from No. 26 on Baseball America’s top 100 prospect list in 2014 to No. 77 in 2015. He was listed at No. 63 in BA’s mid-season rankings.
This year, Shupley has gone 8–5 with a 3.70 ERA in 19 starts for Triple A Reno. He will help Arizona fill the void left by ailing starters Zack Greinke and Rubby De La Rosa.
