While no one can promise victory to any Olympic athletes for this summer’s games in Rio, the athletes can all be confident they will be well fed, as the village will feature a dining hall the size of two football fields and a massive kitchen that will be home to five different buffets.
Athletes will be able to choose food from Brazilian., Asian, International and pasta and pizza selections, as well as a spread dedicated to foods made within the Halal and Kosher dietary guidelines once the game commence, reports the Associated Press.
The kitchen plans to serve roughly 60,000 meals a day once the games begin on Aug. 5, receiving 460,000 pounds of ingredients each day to convert into food for the voracious competitors. While the staff will work hard to make sure the fare is delicious, its number one concern is food safety, according to the Games' director of food and beverages, Marcello Cordiero.

The games also hope to limit their ecological impact by serving these mountains of free food on four million biodegradable plates.
