Noah Syndergaard sums up the heartbreak of playoff baseball in one tweet

“Baseball has a way of ripping your heart out,” Noah Syndergaard wrote after the Mets’ loss.

Noah Syndergaard was brilliant for the Mets on Wednesday, pitching seven scoreless innings of two-hit ball. He did all he could to help the Mets win, but it didn’t matter.

Conor Gillaspie hit a three-run homer in the ninth off of closer Jeurys Familia and now the Mets’ season is over. Syndergaard was understandably dejected after the loss, but he managed to put things in perspective in less than 140 characters.

Syndergaard is still one of the best young players in the majors and the Mets will have a good chance to get right back to the playoffs next year. It’s impressive that he was able to realize that less than two hours after the final out. I’m older than Syndergaard (by 11 days) but he’s clearly much wiser.
