South Carolina linebacker Skai Moore will miss the 2016 season due to a herniated disc in his neck, head coach Will Muschamp announced Tuesday.
“He’ll be fine. This is not a career-threatening situation,” Muschamp said. “This is a very common procedure for herniated disc. It’s unfortunate that it didn’t heal on its own.”
The rising senior, who will redshirt in 2016, will have surgery this week. He had 110 tackles, four interceptions, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 2015 as the Gamecocks’ inside linebacker.
In three seasons at South Carolina, Moore has led the team in tackles, tallying 258, while also adding 11 career interceptions.
Moore originally committed to Rutgers before switching to South Carolina.
