LaQuan McGowan—Baylor’s 6'7", 410-pound tight end—is planning to pursue a career as a professional wrestler after his playing days in the NFL are over, according to SB Nation.

McGowan is hoping to hear his named called during the NFL draft and believes that he can play offensive guard, defensive tackle or fullback at the professional level. However, he understands that players his size usually don’t last long playing on Sundays, he told SB Nation.

“I feel like once that’s over with, the WWE is calling my name,” McGowan said.

McGowan says that he was not a huge wrestling fan growing up and that the thought of competing in the WWE ranks has been a recent development.

He has even been in contact with WWE announcer Jim Ross, the hall of famer tweeted Monday.

He wouldn’t be the first football player to make a living as a professional wrestler. Bill Goldberg played in the NFL and WWE champion Roman Reigns played in the CFL. Before Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson became famous as a wrestler and actor, he played football at Miami.

“I’ve watched it on TV. I’ve thought about, ‘What would be something good or something that I would enjoy doing for a decent, for a long period of time?’” he said. “For big guys in the NFL, they really don’t last that long.”

Despite his focus on the future, McGown believes that he will have the chance to develop an NFL career.

“I highly doubt that I won’t get in and get on a team,” McGowan said. “To me, it’s a must. Like, I have to get to the NFL. I have to get there, for me, because I've been doing this for so long.”
