If I have $10,050,000 and I really need a center, who should it be? I chose Knicks C David Lee ($10,200,000).
-Chase, Arizona
You chose wisely, Chase. Lee isn't the most talented guy out there. But considering how much playing time he gets, and the fact that the Knicks' uptempo system creates tons of fantasy points, Lee becomes an outstanding fantasy center. I'm a little curious to see how Lee is affected by the arrival of F Chris Wilcox ($7,800,000), who was acquired in a trade with the Thunder. Lee is a harder worker than Wilcox, but Wilcox has more offensive talent.
Who would you take: Nets G Devin Harris ($9,300,000) or Cavs G Mo Williams ($11,000,000)? And can you ask Sun Yue to give me a taco and an autograph? Tell him I'll give him a million bucks! (Just Kidding!)
-John, Michigan
Well John, normally Harris would be the clear-cut pick. But because Williams has four games and Harris has only three in Week 18, I'd go with Mo in Week 18. And you know what, John. You just gave me an amazing idea. Sun Yue autographed tacos! Think about it, man! Everyone loves the taste of tacos, and even more people like the taste of ink! "The Wiz & Sun Yue's Awesome Sweet Delicious-Style AUTOGRAPHED Tacos For You To Look At Or Eat." We're going to have the most popular restaurant ever! (Wiz legal disclaimer: Do NOT eat or drink ink. It is not tasty, nor is it good for you.)
Who should I take: Pacers F Danny Granger ($12,500,000) or Thunder F Kevin Durant ($11,200,000)?
-Jimmy
Well Jimmy, Danny Granger's foot injury pretty much made up your mind for you. It's just as well since Durant continues to light it up. Even with just three games next week, Durant might have matched Granger's production over four games.
I have Kobe, LeBron, and D-Wade. Should I get rid of one and get a better player than Bulls F Tyrus Tomas ($6,600,000) or Jazz C Paul Millsap ($8,200,000)?
-Joe, California
Having those three guys definitely limits the rest of your roster, Joe. But I think you can upgrade Thomas and Millsap without spending more. For instance, I think Kings C Spencer Hawes ($6,200,000) is in for a nice boost now that Brad Miller has been traded from Sacto. And you might as well hang on to Thomas since he has a hot hand right now.
Should I take Warriors C Andris Biedrins ($10,600,000) or keep Pacers C Troy Murphy ($9,700,000)?
-Jimmy, New York
Gotta stick with Murph for now, Jimmy. Biedrins is still out with that ankle injury, and he's questionable for next week. Meanwhile, Murphy could put up better numbers with Danny Granger out. That means more shots for him.
I do not know who to get: Hornets G Chris Paul ($21,200,000) or Lakers G Kobe Bryant ($18,800,000)?
-Evan, Louisville
Go with Paul, Evan. CP3 is the best guard in fantasy hoops as long as he stays healthy. Kobe is close, but I'd only peg him over Paul if I needed to save the money.
Who would you pick for a center and a sixth man if you had $13,150,000?
-Connor, Quechee
I'm pegging Kings C Spencer Hawes ($6,200,000) as a good, cheap option at center, Connor. He's in for a bigger role now that Sacramento has traded Brad Miller. And for my sixth man, I'd probably peg Knicks G Chris Duhon ($6,400,000) now that he appears to be healthy again.
Who should I get: Nuggets C Nene Hilario ($8,900,000) or Suns C Shaquille O'Neal ($9,500,000)?
-Max, New York
Well Max, I'm a little more tempted by Shaq now that Amar'e Stoudemire is out for the season. But I'd still give a slight edge to Nene. As long as he can avoid foul trouble, he should out-produce Shaq.
Should I take Bobcats G Raymond Felton ($12,600,000) or Bobcats G D.J. Augustin ($10,500,000)?
-Luke, North Redding & Alexis, Charlotte
I'm grouping you too together, Luke and Alexis, since you had the same question. And you both get the same answer: Felton. I really like Augustin and think he's going to be a great player one day. But Felton has the bigger role right now. And considering the great numbers he has been putting up lately, you have to take the veteran over the rookie.
Who should I get: Bulls G Derrick Rose ($11,500,000) or Celtics G Rajon Rondo ($11,000,000)?
-Javi, Chicago
Rose has the potential to be better one day, Javi. But I'd definitely take Rondo. They guy has just been a fantasy superstar this season, putting up great numbers in just about every category. He might be one of the 10 best players at any position in fantasy basketball right now.
Yo Wiz! Should I snag Derrick Rose or Rajon Rondo. Also, I'm having a tough time deciding between Celtics G Ray Allen ($9,800,000) and Hawks G Mike Bibby ($9,600,000).
-Vlad, California
Well Vlad, I'll refer you to the question above for your Rondo vs. Rose debate. And as for Allen or Bibby, I'd go with Bibby. They've both been in mini-slumps lately, but I like the fact that Bibby has the potential for more assists.
Do you think Knicks G Nate Robinson ($7,700,000) will slow down any time soon?
-Chase, Maine
He's had a great three-game stretch, Chase, but I do think Krypto-Nate will be slowing down soon. The Knicks are getting Chris Duhon back healthy, and they just acquired Larry Hughes in a trade, making their backcourt even more crowded. So I think Nate will lose some minutes, especially if his hot shooting doesn't keep up. And judging from his .317 percent shooting from behind the arc this season, I don't think it will.
Wiz, should I have Lakers C Pau Gasol ($13,100,000) or Nuggets G Chauncey Billups ($13,300,000) as my 6th man?
-Laurel, Pennsylvania
I'd go with Pau, Laurel. He's really been putting up great numbers since Lakers C Andrew Bynum went down with a knee injury. Gasol is averaging 22.3 points, 12.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists since then. And considering how he's getting more playing time now, I expect the great production to continue.
Should I put Cavs F LeBron James ($20,500,000) and Hornets G Chris Paul ($21,200,000) on the same team?
-Camden, Colorado
It's really a matter of personal taste, Camden. Obviously, taking those two guys leaves you little money for your other four spots. I for one almost never take both of them at the same time. There are too many great guys at much better prices -- Heat G Dwyane Wade ($14,150,000), for instance -- to invest more than $40,000,000 in two spots. But it is possible to make it work.
I have $7,300,000 and I need a 6th man. Who do I go with?
-Daniel, San Leandro
I'd go with Knicks G Chris Duhon ($6,400,000) right now, Daniel. It looks like he's healthy again, and he should go back to putting up big numbers while running New York's run-and-gun offense.
Which center should I get with $9,250,000?
-Jason, Texas
I'd go with Nuggets C Nene Hilario ($8,900,000), Jason. He has a rough patch two weeks ago when he ran into foul trouble. But other than that, he's been very good all season.
Who is the best forward available for less than $10,250,000?
-Cole, Fort Recovery
It's slim pickings for that price Cole, but if I were you I'd go with one of two young stars who have really caught fire lately. Thunder F Jeff Green ($7,400,000) has been great since New Year's, and Bulls F Tyrus Thomas ($6,600,000) might finally be coming into his own.
Should I take Warriors C Andris Biedrins ($10,600,000) or Knicks C David Lee ($10,200,000)?
-David, Iowa
Definitely go with Lee, David. Along with the fact that Lee has been playing very well all season, Biedrins is still struggling with that ankle injury. Even if he plays next week, I don't know how healthy he'll be.
Are Sebastian Telfair, Kevin Love, Randy Foye, and Ryan Gomes ready to make a big fantasy impact?
-PJ, Minnesota
Of those guys, I'd say Foye and Love have the best chance, PJ. Gomes is more of a role player who does a lot of things that don't translate to the stat sheet (and if you don't fill the stat sheet, you won't be much of a fantasy player). Foye can be a dynamic scorer and playmaker when he's on his game, and Love is a beast of a rebounder who could do more scoring with Al Jefferson out. As for Telfair, well, I just don't think he's very good at basketball. But I suppose he could rack up some assists if he gets an opportunity to start.
