It's no secret that the Wii is the most popular gaming console. People still line up outside of the Nintendo flagship store in New York City's RockefellerCenter, hoping to get their hands on one.

The popularity of the machine has also made Wii peripherals—a.k.a. the little gadgets and doohickeys that you can purchase to enhance your gaming experience—sell like hotcakes.

Some of these peripherals are cool. Like the Nerf Wii Wheel that we took a look at a few month's back.

But how about the Everlast-branded Wii Boxing Gloves? Exactly how cool are they?

The answer: pretty cool…especially if Boxing is your favorite game on WiiSports.

The gloves are everything you'd expect from Everlast, a company that has a reputation for making grade-A boxing gear. They’re well-made, with expert stitching and plenty of padding.

Put these gloves on and insert the Wii remote into the right glove and the nunchuck into the left. Now you’re ready to start throwing jabs. Don’t worry about your controller, the gloves are designed with special elastic holders to keep the remote and nunchuck firmly in place, especially during tougher bouts.

The big gameplay difference: Instead of gripping the remote and nunchuck in your fists as you normally would for WiiSports Boxing, you can now relax your hands inside the gloves (since the gloves do the holding/gripping for you). This initially makes it feel as if you can throw quicker punches. Unfortunately, while the gloves are relatively lightweight, they still seemed to wear us out more quickly, especially in the later rounds. (Or maybe the Sports Gamer just isn’t in tip-top WiiSports Boxing shape.)

And you can take these gloves into the virtual ring with three other Wii titles. Facebreaker K.O. Party (EA Games), Victorious Boxers: Revolution (Xseed), and the upcoming Ready 2 Rumble reboot (Atari) are all compatible.

What are you waiting for? Slip on a pair and let these gloves transform your living room into a boxing ring.

PROS:
- Real boxing gloves.
- No more "gripping" the controls.
- Makes boxing games more fun.

CONS:
- Heavy.
- Sweaty gloves = not good for sharing.
- Could wind up in the drawer with your other WiiJunk peripherals.
