Lauren is right on target. Since picking up a bow and arrow less than three years ago at a county fair, she has become a 2010 national champion, California State Games winner, and California state archery champ in the 14-and-under recurve category. Lauren also set records in three Junior Olympic Developmental 50-meter contests and broke her own age group mark in the International Archery Federation 40-meter contest. “Archery is all about focus and consistency,” she says. “It may seem like a serious sport, but it’s a lot of fun.”
A two-time AAU cross-country national champion, Jason can go the distance. In 2009, he finished the 2,000-meter race with a winning time of 7:27.5. Last year, he won his age group championship in the 3,000 meters, clocking in at 11:03.3. Jason has also won nine Junior Olympic gold medals.
At the Olympic Development Team training camp last year, Alyssa finished as the top-ranked female. She is also a three-time national trampoline champion in her age division and has grabbed top age group honors at the California state championships four times.
