| San Francisco 49ers (2-0) Their defense is once again insane, and their offense is looking pretty darn good as well. If you don't think this is the best team in football right now, you're downright nutty. | ||
| Houston Texans (2-0) For the longest time it seemed like everyone just thought the Texans were a team that had some offensive talent but no defense. That's no longer the case (just ask anyone who's had to face DE J.J. Watt). The Texans defense is for real, and their running game is still the NFL's best. | ||
| Green Bay Packers (1-1) Playing San Fran then rival Chicago was a tough way to start the year, even if both games were at home. I expect Aaron Rodgers to really get things going from here on in. | ||
| Baltimore Ravens (1-1) I still think Joe Flacco will have a great year, and Ray Rice is the only MVP-caliber running back left in football. As long as they can generate a pass rush with Terrell Suggs out for the year, this team will be right there in January. | ||
| New England Patriots (1-1) Whoa, a home loss to Arizona? That was weird. Aaron Hernandez is out for a month and the offensive line can't block anyone. Still, Tom Brady teams can never be much lower than this spot. | ||
| Atlanta Falcons (2-0) I loved what their defense did against the Broncos on Monday night. But I would love to see their offense let QB Matt Ryan really put teams away when they have the chance. This team just isn't going to run the ball well. | ||
| Philadelphia Eagles (2-0) They have two one-point wins, but a one-point win is still a win, right? The Eagles found a way to lose a lot of close games last year. It's a good sign that, so far, they're finding a way to win the tight ones. | ||
| New York Giants (1-1) If they weren't the defending Super Bowl champs, they'd be much lower. Their secondary is injury-plagued and, quite frankly stinks. And where's that amazing pass rush? Eli is still great, but the rest of this team needs to step it up. | ||
| Denver Broncos (1-1) That first quarter on Monday night was a disaster: Four turnovers, including three Peyton Manning interceptions. | ||
| Pittsburgh Steelers (1-1) Even without Troy Polamalu and James Harrison, this defense looked dominant in shutting down the Jets last week. It looks like it’s going to be another epic battle between the Steelers and Ravens for the AFC North. | ||
| Arizona Cardinals (2-0) Right now they’re winning with defense and special teams. But to make the playoffs, they need to get Larry Fitzgerald going. | ||
| San Diego Chargers (2-0) Usually this is the time of year that the Chargers are tripping over their own feet. Sure, they only beat the Raiders and Titans, but 2-0 is a nice start for a team that usually blossoms later in the year. | ||
| Seattle Seahawks (1-1) Don’t sleep on the Seahawks. Seattle has one of the best defenses in football, an elite runner in Marshawn Lynch, and they’re really tough to beat at home. If rookie QB Russell Wilson steps up, this is a playoff team. | ||
| Chicago Bears (1-1) Their defense can still get it done, but yeesh. Jay Cutler needs to stop throwing the ball up for grabs on every play, and the offensive line needs to do a much better job of protecting him. | ||
| Dallas Cowboys (1-1) I’m not sure what to make of the Cowboys yet, but they looked as bad as an NFL team can look in their loss at Seattle last week. | ||
| Washington Redskins (1-1) If not for Josh Morgan’s unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, the Redskins might have been 2-0 right now. Still, this is a dangerous team with RG3 making big play after big play. | ||
| Detroit Lions (1-1) What is going on with this offense? They seem intent on establishing the run, but why do it when you have Calvin Johnson? Just keep throwing it! | ||
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-1) I still like their running game, and I love the addition of WR Vincent Jackson. But this team is going to have to learn how to win the close ones. | ||
| St. Louis Rams (1-1) The Rams are going to be a much tougher team to beat this year. New head coach Jeff Fisher seems to really be changing the culture there, | ||
| Cincinnati Bengals (1-1) Their defense isn't getting the job done, and I don't know if they have the offensive firepower to make up for it. | ||
| Carolina Panthers (1-1) That was a nice bounce back win over New Orleans. If they can beat the Giants at home on Thursday night, Carolina might really have something going. | ||
| New York Jets (1-1) Yeesh, the Steelers loss was downright ugly, and the Jets D can’t get Darrelle Revis back soon enough. | ||
| New Orleans Saints (0-2) I guess they’re probably missing Sean Payton a little bit. But their struggles have been more about a terrible defensive performance. | ||
| Buffalo Bills (1-1) The Bills go on the board by pounding K.C. last week, and RB C.J. Spiller looked like a star. They can’t let one slip away at Cleveland on Sunday though. | ||
| Indianapolis Colts (1-1) Andrew Luck has been overshadowed by Robert Griffin III, but he’s looked sharp through his first two games. | ||
| Minnesota Vikings (1-1) Their offense has looked better than expected, but a narrow win at home over Jacksonville and a loss to Indy isn’t a promising start to the year. | ||
| Miami Dolphins (1-1) Miami’s D is for real, and Reggie Bush seems to be getting better and better. Still, I just don’t think Ryan Tannehill can lead them into contention as a rookie. | ||
| Jacksonville Jaguars (0-2) Whoa, the Jags just got hammered at home by the Texans. After some promising signs in a narrow Week 1 loss at Minnesota, this offense once again looked like the NFL’s worst against Houston. | ||
| Cleveland Browns (0-2) Brandon Weeden looked much better in his second start, Trent Richardson looks like he’s ready to be a big-time weapon, and their defense is improving. Still, this team needs to make big plays at big moments before they start getting wins. | ||
| Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) A second straight disastrous start for a team that just isn’t built very well. | ||
| Tennessee Titans (0-2) Wow. If Chris Johnson keeps running like this (19 carries, 21 yards), this team is going to go winless. | ||
| Oakland Raiders (0-2) You can blame this on former coach Hue Jackson, who made the most insane trade in sports history (two first-round picks for a washed-up Carson Palmer) before getting let go in the offseason. They can’t run, they can’t pass, they can’t stop anyone, and they commit a lot of dumb mistakes. Looks like it’s a rebuilding year in Oakland. | ||
