Believe it or not, Madden is more than an excellent videogame--it's also an excellent predictor of Super Bowls. Of the last eight Super Bowls, the annual Madden simulation has been correct an amazing six out of eight times. Wow.
Worth noting: Madden was wrong last year when it predicted that the Steelers would beat the Packers. And it was also wrong four seasons ago when it predicted that the Patriots would beat the Giants in Super Bowl XLII (but you had to be a complete knucklehead not to pick the Pats to win in what was their undefeated season).
The final score of this year's Super Bowl, according to EA and Madden '12: the Giants edge the Pats 27-24. So how does Madden think it will end? Giants kicker, Lawrence Tynes, kicks a 40-yard field goal in the game's closing moments for the win.
Other predictions: Giants QB Eli Manning completes 25 out of 39 passes, including a pair of touchdowns (against one interception) to earn the title of M.V.P. Pats QB Tom Brady, on the other side of the ball, throws for a whopping 327 yards and three interceptions against the Giant defense.
The Sports Gamer happens to be a big Giants fan, so even writing up a post such as this feels a potential jinx and/or an invitation for disaster. Anyway, it'll all be over in a few short days.
