The BOOMSHAKALAKA is back!!! The classic basketball arcade game, NBA Jam has been revived and is now on Wii. Now you’re wondering, “What’s so great about that?” Well, I’ll tell you...
One of the biggest things that stands out to me is that Tim Kitzrow, the original voice of NBA Jam returns with his one of a kind commentary. Also you can play just like the original game but with the Wii’s motion control and today’s players, two on two. Even on single game mode, you can play solo, versus, or co-op. And by completing in-game challenges you can unlock legends like Dr. J or Spud Webb and special teams like Team Republican, Team Democrats, The Beastie Boys and Team ESPN.
Also like the original game, you can play the Classic Campaign, although again, you are playing with the current players. In this mode you play round-robin every NBA Team. After you beat every team in a division you will have a Legends Battle with Legends from a team within the division. You will face duos like Larry Bird & Magic Johnson and Dominique Wilkins & Spud Webb.
Now we get to the new stuff… The big mode is the Remix Tour. There are game modes that you can play as a single game like Smash where you try to break your opponent’s backboard, Domination which resembles the game Around the World, and Elimination where you try to score as many baskets as you can to eliminate your opponents. The Remix Tour mode is like Classic Campaign where you play all the NBA Teams and occasionally legends, but you compete in the Remix Tour game modes. Every once in a while you will have boss battles with superstars such as Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson. When you beat the boss battle you will unlock it for single play mode.
There’s no wonder why NBA Jam won Best Sports Game at E3 2010. This is a fantastic game and you cannot call yourself a serious gamer without playing NBA Jam! If this is not a perfect gaming experience I do not know what is!
