Crosby's Goal Gives Canada Gold in Overtime Classic 36

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Canada beat the United States 3-2 on Sunday to win the Olympic goal medal in its national sport of hockey, with Sidney Crosby scoring the winning goal 7:40 into overtime and setting off a celebration from coast to coast.

WHISTLER, British Columbia (AP) -- With one more perfect run down sliding's most treacherous track, Steven Holcomb drove USA-1 to the Olympic gold medal in four-man bobsledding Saturday, ending a 62-year drought for the Americans in the event.
It was the first gold medal for the U.S. in sliding's signature race since Francis Tyler won one for the Americans at St. Moritz in 1948.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- Life is sweet when there's a gold medal hanging from your neck in your home rink.
Marie-Philip Poulin scored two goals, Shannon Szabados made 28 saves, and Canada rolled through its American rivals, 2-0, to win the gold medal in women's hockey for the third straight Olympics Thursday night in front of a raucous Vancouver crowd ringing cowbells and frantically waving thousands of maple leaf flags.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- A resurgent Canada ended 50 years of Olympic hockey frustration against Russia on Wednesday with a 7-3 win and a place in the tournament semifinals.
A goal and two assists from Dan Boyle during the first period helped Canada beat the world champions -- a feat they hadn't accomplished since the 1960 games -- in a showdown of hockey superpowers.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- The longer it went, the tighter the Americans got.
They clanged shots off the post, then the crossbar. A wrist shot early in the game by Phil Kessel that looked like a bad omen hit both. Everything else the U.S. hockey team threw on net Wednesday, Swiss goalie Jonas Hiller smothered.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) -- The Americans didn't believe in miracles. They just believed.
And they pulled off the biggest Olympic hockey upset since the Miracle on Ice, stunning Canada 5-3 on Sunday to advance to the quarterfinals of an already mixed-up tournament.
