SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Drew Brees is getting plenty of extra chances thanks to his opportunistic defense.

Last season, the New Orleans Saints won their games with a high-flying offense. So far this year they're doing it on the other side of the ball. While Brees and Co. are finding their way early, the defense seems to be in midseason form.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- Peyton Manning showed some compassion for his little brother. It didn't help - the Indianapolis Colts pummeled Eli anyway.

Big brother Peyton dispensed with his usual encouragement for his defense to get after the opposing quarterback. No matter: Peyton proved he still rules America's first family of quarterbacks and the Colts dominated Eli's New York Giants 38-14 Sunday night.

LANDOVER, Md. (AP) -- Their quarterback threw for 497 yards. They overcame a 17-point third-quarter deficit. They've beaten Peyton Manning and Donovan McNabb back-to-back. They even won an overtime game for the first time.

Needless to say, these are not your older brother's Houston Texans .

Vick Shines in First Start Since 2006

DETROIT (AP) -- On the bus ride to his first start at quarterback since 2006, Michael Vick thought of everything that has happened the last several years.
