COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -- Mississippi wasn't ready for the Top 5 - or South Carolina's defense.
Star passer Jevan Snead was hounded all game and the fourth-ranked Rebels never got in gear, losing to South Carolina 16-10 Thursday night.
''I'm glad it's gone,'' left tackle Bradley Sowell said of the high-intensity spotlight, ''so we can just get back to basics and win ballgames.''

CLEVELAND (AP) -- Carlos Guillen feels right again, which is good news for the pennant-hungry Detroit Tigers.
Guillen hit two of Detroit's three home runs to help Rick Porcello and the Tigers defeat Cleveland 11-3 on Wednesday night, the Indians' season-high 10th straight loss.
Miguel Cabrera added a two-run homer, a 440-foot shot into the bleachers in left-center, as the Tigers won their third straight, maintaining a 2 1/2-game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central. The Twins won at Chicago, 8-6, and will open a four-game series in Detroit on Monday.
''The big boys stepped it up,'' Tigers manager Jim Leyland said. ''Carlos is one of the big boys, but it's not fair to ask him to do too much because he's missed so much time. It's good to have him back.''

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- The Seahawks are preparing to play without Matt Hasselbeck on Sunday against the Chicago Bears, though the three-time Pro Bowl quarterback is hoping to start despite a broken rib.
Seattle coach Jim Mora confirmed Monday that Hasselbeck has a fractured rib from a hard hit in the back by 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis while the quarterback dived for the goal line late in the first half of San Francisco's 23-10 win on Sunday.
Asked if he had to plan to face the Bears without Hasselbeck, Mora said, "Right now, we'll probably do that -- unless we get word otherwise."
