DENVER (AP) -- The Colorado Rockies have signed former AL MVP Jason Giambi to a minor league contract.
The 38-year-old Giambi will report to Triple-A Colorado Springs, hoping for a September call-up to help the Rockies with their pennant push. Colorado went into Monday with a three-game lead in the NL wild-card race.
More »CINCINNATI (AP) -- Quarterback Carson Palmer is expected to miss another preseason game because of a sprained left ankle.
Palmer didn't participate in the Cincinnati Bengals' practice Monday, getting treatment on his ankle instead. Palmer suffered the injury during the preseason opener, and sat out a game last Thursday against New England.

NEW YORK (AP) -- As Tim Tebow and the Florida Gators prepare to make a run at their third national title in the last four seasons, the defending champions have already made some history.
