Vick Helps Eagles to Preseason Win

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -All eyes were on Michael Vick - for all of six plays.

Playing his first NFL game since his release from prison, the Philadelphia Eagles quarterback got a standing ovation, avoided any ugly protests and completed four passes for 19 yards.

''It's been a long journey for me,'' Vick said. ''I just want to do it right this time around.''

Rookie Mark Sanchez Named Jets' Starting QB

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) -- The future is now for the new face of the New York Jets, Mark Sanchez.

Sanchez was selected as the team's starting quarterback by coach Rex Ryan on Wednesday, making him the first rookie to open a season under center for the Jets. The fifth overall draft pick out of Southern California will make his regular-season debut at Houston on Sept. 13.

Seahawks Sign Edgerrin James

RENTON, Wash. (AP) -- The agent for Edgerrin James says the league's leading active rusher has signed a one-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks.

Earlier Tuesday night, veteran running back T.J. Duckett told The Associated Press he had been waived by Seattle to clear roster space.
