ROME (AP) -- A rare headed goal by Lionel Messi helped Barcelona beat Manchester United 2-0 in the Champions League final on Wednesday, giving the Spanish side its third European Cup title and third trophy in a magical season.
Samuel Eto'o put the Spanish champions ahead in the 10th minute and Messi's 70th-minute goal -- his ninth in the Champions League this season -- sealed the victory over the defending champions at the Stadio Olimpico.

DENVER (AP) -Suspended outfielder Manny Ramirez will be sent to the minor leagues for a week to 10 days as part of a rehabilitation assignment prior to rejoining the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ramirez is serving a 50-game ban for violating baseball's drug policy. He's eligible to rejoin the Dodgers on July 3.

The quarterback who was sidelined almost all last season with a knee injury was on the field Tuesday with most of his teammates.
The Patriots are holding four days of organized activities this week. The first three days were held last week for young players and for free agents who signed in the offseason and need more time to adjust to the playbook.
About 50 players, roughly half the team, took part in the voluntary sessions.
