DALLAS (AP) -- Three-time NL MVP Albert Pujols has agreed to a 10-year contract with the Los Angeles Angels, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The person spoke on condition of anonymity because it had not been announced.
Pujols led the St. Louis Cardinals to a World Series title this fall - his second with the team. He had been pursued by the Miami Marlins, but they dropped out Wednesday after agreeing to a deal with Mark Buehrle.
The Cardinals exercised a $16 million option on Pujols' contract after last season. The slugger rejected a multiyear extension that included a small percentage of the franchise over the winter and cut off negotiations on the first day of spring training.
Pujols' numbers in nearly every major offensive category are on a three-year decline, but he remains among the game's elite players. He hit 37 home runs last season, running his 30-homer streak to 11 years, and batted .299 with 99 RBIs. He led the Cardinals' improbable late-season surge and became only the third player to hit three home runs in a World Series game.

Okay, I'm trying to keep myself from getting super mad. The Cardinals did so good this year and then they have to trade their best player? (Although he is on decline and David Freese is going up!)The Cardinals need to get someone very good such as Prince Fielder or someone. Please Cardinals, get someone godd and spend Pujols' money wisely.
They'll be paying him 200 million dollars when he's 42.
i no right
did you know pujols will be 42 when his contract ends? hard to imagine him still a superstar by then.
he's getting toward the end of his career on this contract. the angels got a good player with him but not enough other players. htis might have somethin to do with La Rusa gone but i doubt it.
MAN ALBERT TO L.A.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Angels aren't gonna win a ws
What, the Angels realy.
Its so sad.. and right after winning the world series too... And if Pujols got so much publicity in St Louis, then imagine publicity in LA
I was VERY surprised when I saw on ESPN that he had signed with the Angels it was at 12:07 I believe but all the luck to the Angels
I don't think Albert will be good in the last 7-10 years of the contract.
agree like anything
I didn't even know you could sign a contract longer than 7 years!
Wow... Hope the angels play through. They need to win their division this year... they've put a lot of pressure on themselves. Media awaits!
