this isn't smart on the yankees part because they give away 2 good players (Hideki Matsui and Johnny Damon) but yet they keep A-rod who if he doesn't hit a home run, he goes 0 for 4 every game. if you get rid of A-rod trade him to Tampa Bay ane get Evan Longoria. The yankees will save money to get other players and become a good, strong defending world champions team.

How stupid. A-Rod isn't going anywhere. He is going to retire as a Yankee. Besides, you may save money, but Evan Longoria can't even play baseball.

Ahhhhhh where did you get damon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! this thing is about randy winn, besides damon stunk but we don not need randy winn

Damons going going going and hes gone!!! YAY!!!!!! I HATED HIM ANYWAY.

U know all of u put a sock in it

I hate Damon! I hate the Yankees! White Sox r so better!

White Sox STINK!!!!!!!!!!! Why r u even reading this

I won the silver Slugger w/ Damon on MLB 2k9.

Randy Winn should how valuable he is isn't $2 million. Especially being with the Yanks. The probability is very slim that the Yankees could win the World Series this year wake up Randy Winn.

Go Yankees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!We're going for world series #28 second is only St. Louis with 10 Ha Ha Ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111

OK Another outfielder c mon! We have swisher, GRANDERSON, gardener, and maybe even damon. we dont neeed randy winn. Come on the yanks are falling apart! OK we have recently sighned Granderson, Nick johnson, Randy Winn and Javy wat the Heck!

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD ONE OF THE MOST SUCCESFUL FRANCHISES MAKE ONE OF THE MOST STUPIDEST DECISIONS EVR MADE IN BASEBALL!!??? the yankees already have an outfield that can tear any team up. but come on?? randy winn? the guy had his up-and-down seasons but is not worth two million dollars. I thought the yankees were very smart with their money. turns out their not.

AwesomeShortstop, you are pretty AWESOME! I am also a shortstop. And I'm left-handed which seems weird because I play a right-handed position. I'm a girl. I'm 12. Wanna be friends? You seem pretty baseball smart and awesome.

2 million seems like nuttin when you are talking about the 5 guys on the yankees that are being paid MORE THAN 100 MILLION, ONE OF THEM OVER 200 MILLION. I THINK THEY CAN SPARE 2 Million

AWESOMESHORTSTOP YOUR THE BEST!!! and i thought i knew alot about baseball.wanna be friends?

Maybe your just jeloius because AwsomeShortstop knows 100000000000 times more than you about the game of baseball. And for the record, AwsomeShortstop can out talk you any day of the week so just back of and studie your stats...SMART ONE:):)

I dont act like i know everything about baseball, i just look at stats. Stats are undeniable. just because i support my statements doesnt mean that im a knowitall.
First i want to clarify that I AM A YANKEES FAN. I'm just a realistic yankees fan.
They have a very inconsistant hitting outfield. Look at the stats! swisher and granderson both hit .249 last year. The Yankees have a VERY POWERFUL outfield: 29 and 30 homeruns from swisher and granderson last year. Gardner isn't ready to become an everyday starter yet so the yankees needed to bring in a consistant hitting outfielder. I'll admitt that last year winn's average was only .262 which is better than both Swisher and the 2 years before, winn hit .300 and .306.
But your right, the Yankees do have a very solid pitching staff but im a bit worried about Chamberlain or hughes in the 5th spot.
And "For the Record", i couldnt care less about what the rest of the people on this blog say.
If you want to come out and put some facts behind your claims, i can respect that ,but sofar you have only made wild statements.
I'm looking forward to hearing back from you!:)

dude quit acting like you know everything there is to know about baseball alright? and for the record, winn's stats haven't been good at all like you said. and the yanks already have a very very very consistent outfield. they also have a superb pitching staff featuring guys who have had great seasons. look at all the comments and tell me the ratio of how many people disagree compared to how many agree. so far, you're the only one. "Mr. Sportsman"

That amazing Yankee outfield consists of
Nick Swisher who hit .249 with 29 homeruns
Curtis granderson who hit .249 with 30 homeruns
and Brett Gardner who hit .270 with 3 homeruns in limited playing time.
Gardner has only played 150 games in his career.
The Yankees needed a expierienced and consistant hitter to take Gardners place in the outfield untill he can mature. Winn does just that with his consistantly high batting averages and above average speed.
Yankees got exactly what they needed for an excellent price.

I think that it was a good and bad trade. The bad part was for the Giants because they lost one of their best players and the bad part for the Yanks was that they lost a good player too. And the good part for the Giants is that they got a good outfielder for a good outfielder ( what a bad trade!!! ).

The Giants didnt get anybody out of this deal.
Winn and Damon were free agents. The Yankees didnt resign Damon because they signed winn instead.
I personally think that Damon is a better player than Damon. Johnny Damon is a bit better average and power hitter. They both have pretty good speed but terrible arms in the outfield.
I expect Damon to find a home in Oakland this offseason. The A's have some money burning a hole in their pocket and could use a vetran outfielder with a good bat.

Damon is my #1 favorite player of all time! Why can't he stay with the Yanks.

Because Damon STINKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yeah, i have a poster of him with the yanks.
