As Opening Day nears, sports analysts and fans alike are answering one question, “what are your predictions for the 2010 MLB Season?” I would like to make a different type of prediction, one that may not prove to be true this season, or even in the next few seasons to come. This prediction may be bold, and I may be doubted, but let me be the first to say that the Baltimore Orioles are on the verge of becoming a prominent team in Major League Baseball.

NFL Conference Championship Previews & Predictions 36

Yes, football fans, it’s time to rejoice. It’s that wonderful time of year: the NFL Playoffs.

So far this post-season, we have seen a share of crazy games and upsets (I don’t even know where to begin! The incredibly high scoring Cardinals-Packers game; the Ravens-Patriots game where New England was upset at home; or the Jets-Chargers upset… I can go on and on!).

Who Should the Yankees Sign Next? 24

Just two seasons ago, the Philadelphia Phillies did it -- they won the World Series, defeating the young Tampa Bay Rays.

A World Series title is impressive, however they did something that not many championship teams do. More often than not, teams that win the championship, at any level in any sport, don’t like to change their winning formula for the following season, and therefore stay inactive in the bidding for high profile players. The Phillies, upon the loss of Pat Burrell last year, added Raul Ibanez (who hit more than 30 home runs in 2009), and later in the year scooped up 2008 AL Cy Young Award winner Cliff Lee. As a result, they represented the National League in the World Series for a second straight season.

The New York Yankees have just won the World Series and I think they should follow the example set by the Phillies.

“Enter Sandman”, the hit song by Metallica, roared through the ears of the 50,173 fans that packed into Yankee Stadium last night for Game 6 of the ALCS.

Every Yankee fan knew what this meant: it was time for Mariano Rivera, considered by some to be the best relief pitcher in history, to do what he does best.

Actually, last night, from the first pitch around 8:00 ET, every Yankee seemed to do what they do best: win. I was lucky enough to witness another great victory in New York, first hand from the new Yankee Stadium.
