Three Trades I'd Like to See 58

We all have things we’d like to see in sports. Maybe it’s the Cubs winning the World Series. Haven’t you ever wondered what it would be like if superstars got traded for another, or ended up in different places? LeBron signed with the Heat, so that got me thinking…

The Manning Swap
It sounds weird, but it’s serious. They both had a pretty similar decade, even though Peyton is better. They both won a Super Bowl, they both were MVP of that Super Bowl, and they both have a good team behind them. As long as the Giants throw in someone good, it would be pretty fair. Plus, with the fact that age is catching up to the Colts, one way to get younger is doing this. The Giants would get a QB that has a career 101.4 QB rating vs. the NFC (and even better against division rivals Eagles and Redskins). Fair? Yes!

LeBron James for Kobe Bryant
LeBron always has wanted that championship ring. And if there is two teams that have dominated in that category, it would be the Lakers or the Celtics. The LeBron–Shaq combo didn’t exactly work, so Boston is out. And everyone would like to see if Kobe could win titles without Phil Jackson, so this is the question: Who would be a better leader of the Big 3? Each team would be missing a piece, so it would be hard to know if it would work out. Fair? Maybe, but we’ll never know.

Albert Pujols for Dice-K and Victor Martinez
I’ve always wanted to see Albert Pujols vs. the Green Monster. He’s usually up against Busch Stadium’s (rather small) outfield walls. And the Cardinals pitching hasn’t been holding up. That’s pretty much how they lost the NL Central this year. This would be awesome to see because (1) Dice-K doesn’t see much NL competition, plus, he’d really improve the Cardinals rotation, and (2) Victor Martinez would bring a new big bat to the lineup and could play first base instead of catcher, where base-stealers beat him, and (3) If Pujols can really tame the Green Monster, he’ll put an iron shield over his place in Cooperstown. Plus he’s right handed, which gives him more of a chance versus the Monster. Fair? Absolutely!

Turkey of the Year
And a little bonus… Since I’m the kid reporter closest to Thanksgiving, I’m giving out the Turkey Award for 2010 to the player that really muffed things up: Luis Suarez of the Uruguay national soccer team, for breaking the rules with an intentional handball vs. Ghana, a horrible example for everyone in the world, plus bad sportsmanship.

Is there a trade you’d like to see? Or a Turkey Award that you think should’ve been given? Leave your reply in the Comments box!

Eli is clearly the better Manning and the Giants should not do the trade. He won a Super Bowl more recently than Peyton. In fact, Eli is better than Archie was. In fact, Eli is the greatest quarterback who has ever lived. And it is just a bonus that he plays for the greatest team in the land, the NEW YORK giants, who beat the NEW ENGLAND Patriots in the Super Bowl and spoiled their quest for a perfect season.

But more importantly, what a beautifully written, well-thought out article. This kid clearly knows his sports. Awesome job !! Keep up the good work.

you are crazy man maybe eli is better than archie which he isnt but peyton is the number 8 best nfl superstar eli wasnt even in the top 100 and also the giants lost to the 1in8 cowboys so they arent the best team in the land and im a giant fan

What is the turkey Award?

Who wants Dwayne Wade for Kevin Garent

Great Story!! I would love to see Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo swap teams. And my turkey award goes to Tony Romo 2005. He fumbled the field goal snap in the NFC championship against the seahawks. The kick wouldve sent them to the super bowl. Rookie!!!

Pujols for Howard and a draft pick. I've always wanted to see Pujols in red pinstripes.

The Phillies should trade Ryan howard for Jim Thome and a boatload of prospects from the Twins. It woukd work since Thome wants to hit 600 homers ond Philly is a team he has been with.

Who wants the Chicago 102 year chockes winning the world series.

Yeah but Thome is over the hill. The Fightins' shouldn't waste a great talent like Howard for an old guy like Thome. No offense to Thome, he was a great players in his day, and he contributed a lot to the Phillies. But that would be the dumbest trade in the history of baseball.

Tom Brady and Tony Romo

Why would the SMART Patriots trade their franchise for an injured quarterback wjo is no longer a top-ranked quarterback? Never gonna happen

Romo Doesn't stink BUt hes not great hes avrege

Brady is waaay better than Romo - there's no way the Pats would trade Brady for Romo. Tom Brady's my fave player, and the Patriots are my favorite team. So I'd hate if they traded him (which they won't).

Hey Ping pong the Patriots are not trading him probably until hes old but this is what we would like to see i would like to see Toby Gerhart know a VIking do to the draft become a steelers player for Rashard Mendenhall.

He is hurt...

I agree. The Pats would never let Brady go.

That will never work. Do you really think America's team will let go of their star?

You're idea for Dice-K and Martinez won't work out. Victor Martinez signed with Detroit. I still can't believe Jeter, Damon, Pettitte, and Mo Rivera still don't have contracts. Brain Cashman told Jeter to go to the market today. :(

Yeah, well he wrote the article the day before, I don't think anyone knew
At that point.

Awesome blog post Will! Would love to see Pujols in a Sox uniform, and would be great to get P Manning out of the Patriots' way....are you a Boston fan?

My other nomination for the Turkey Award is Gilbert Arenas.

Boston would have too much talent if they got King Albert. It would kill the Yanks and the Cards would have enough power if they traded King Albert. I disagree with this.

Why trade P Manning????? he's been great for the Colts and should stay their. I don't see why they should trade P Mannig...

I disagree on the Pujols for Dice-K and Martinez trade

So do I. Agreed 100%

L agree PitcherQb3 Pujols should stay with the cardinals.

Well, he did sign with the Tigers today, so I would think they could send Kevin Youkilis...
