Cars Race-O-Rama is made up of a lot of mini-games put together. I don't love that in this game, but other people might. What I love is the actual racing. It's very quick and clean, and keeping control of the car is easy. I think it's cool that you use different characters for the different racetracks. I found that the cars can be easier to control or faster than the others (even though I didn't really expect that), and that makes Race-O-Rama a whole lot more fun.
SpongeBob's Truth Or Square is a great attempt at strengthening the family game genre with a positive end result. SpongeBob's humorous touch is a great companion to a storyline that involves his finding items needed to help him remember the location of a secret formula. The controls are very basic, yet challenging and complex enough without the attacks becoming repetitive. The environments are also quite incredible for a game of this type. There are three levels within each "act," totaling 12 levels, and each level requires the player to find three items.
Where The Wild Things Are is about a young boy named Max. He comes to the mysterious island of the “Wild Things.” Max quickly becomes friends with the Wild Things and becomes king of The Wild Things. The object of the game is to beat anything that comes your way while you are on adventures.
The Bigs 2 for the DS has about equal pros and cons. One thing that I noticed was that it only had three different game modes. I did not expect a DS game to have a lot, but I was thinking maybe four or five. The Exhibition is the best mode because it’s the actual baseball game, but they are all fun if you’re looking for a few minutes of fun.
There are positives and negatives to Dragon Ball: Raging Blast. I like this game because it looks exactly how the series did on TV. The maps are larger than before, so you have a lot of freedom to move around, and it does not feel like you were trapped throughout the battles. The new What If scenarios are also very interesting and add a nice twist to the game. On the other hand the controls for this game were hard to get used to and very confusing.
Backyard Football '10 is definitely a game geared toward younger audiences. The main concept of this game is to create a team consisting of NFL football stars or regular kids on the block. Once a player has selected his team members, he can choose to participate in either the season mode or a pickup game with 1 to 4 players. The season is just like the NFL's: It has the same number of games. During the season, you can also trade players, practice different plays, or just go straight into a game.
