Minute To Win It

Wii, Nintendo
Release Date:
October 31, 2010

Based on the hit NBC game show comes an exciting new game. Just like the game show with Guy Fieri, in Minute to Win It there are ten nerve-wracking challenges and you have one minute to complete each one. Since they’re pretty hard, you have three lives in case you mess up. For every challenge you complete, you earn money, ultimately competing for one million dollars! Of course it’s not as easy as it sounds. After every round you complete you can decide to keep going and risk it all or keep your money and go. Using the money you earn you can upgrade your avatar with fancy new threads, new hairstyles and more! You can play solo or with up to three friends.

Not many games are perfect, and that's why this game didn’t make the elite list. First, there isn’t much motion control used. What I mean is that from the start the Wii was about this unique motion control and this game doesn’t take much advantage of that, and even with the little motion control that is used, unless you want to buy the Wii Motion Plus, the majority of your actions will be delayed. Next, in the game you use pre-created avatars that you can edit instead of Miis that are used in many games already. I think it would be much easier to be able to purchase accessories for your Miis. It doesn’t sound like much, but wouldn’t you like playing as yourself instead of some weird avatar? In addition, there weren’t that many different game modes. And there are only so many challenges; due to these factors I don’t believe this game has a great replay value. This means you’ll probably get bored of it pretty quick. That makes it an okay quick pick up, but not a long-term obsession.

So all in all, this isn’t the first game I would recommend, but it still is a pretty decent game. Sure it has its flaws, but it is worth a try for those real gamers.
