Did you happen to catch the Houston Astros-Cincinnati Reds game last night? No? All you missed was one one of the best worst slides of the season. Or maybe any season.
All this week, we're rolling out new games that you — yes you! — can play on the SI Kids website! And if you like Angry Birds, Candy Crush, or Fruit Ninja, you're not going to miss any of them!
Here's what we have rolling out this week. A new game link will be added every day at noon, so be sure to check back tomorrow and the next day and the day after that!
Seattle Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman was among the NFL leaders in both interceptions (8) and passes defensed (24) last season. It's Sherman's job to pick on opposing quarterbacks, and he does it as well as anyone.
But while it's Sherman's job to pick on quarterbacks on the field, he knows there's no room for bullying away from the gridiron. That's why he's among the celebrities teaming up with CustomInk's Be Good to Each Other campaign, recognizing National Bullying Prevention Month in October.
Check out the special anti-bullying t-shirt he designed at the bottom of this page. (You can see the full collection at www.customink.com/stopbullying.)
Richard also took the SI Kids 10 Questions personality questionnaire. Check out his answers… More »
Earlier this week, we brought you a profile of Paul Rabil, the biggest star in lacrosse. Rabil is a beast of the outdoor game, and his accomplishments on the field are a big part of the story. But an equally important part of his career is that he plays the indoor game, too.
As a member of the Philadelphia Wings of the National Lacrosse League, Rabil is one of only a handful of lacrosse players who play in both the indoor NLL and outdoor Major League Lacrosse. (He plays for the Boston Cannons of the MLL.) There are differences between the two types of lacrosse — the arena game has a smaller playing area, the action is five-on-five, and the goalies are bigger and the nets smaller. But playing the indoor game has had a real impact on Rabil's outdoor success.
In week two of the college football season, all the top-10 teams won their games and the best players continued to dominate. But the team that could have the most to worry about going forward is Ohio State. If quarterback Braxton Miller’s knee injury keeps him out for an extended amount of time, the Buckeyes could be the first top-5 team to be put on upset alert.
Georgia got back in the top 10 after beating South Carolina, knocking the Gamecocks out of the top 10 in the process.
The big game this week is Alabama and Texas A&M. Everyone will be watching Saturday and it could cause quite a bit of movement in the rankings, so make sure you tune in.
While most of the sports world was focused on the start of football season (and that includes us), three NHL teams unveiled new looks for the 2013-14 season. The Buffalo Sabres, Minnesota Wild, and San Jose Sharks all revealed jersey updates over the past few weeks.
Let's get caught up, shall we?
