The Washington Nationals' Bryce Harper had a pretty impressive first season in the major leagues. He was selected to the All-Star team and won the National League Rookie of the Year. The honors didn't stop coming this offseason — Harper was one of seven players in the running to be on the cover of the new MLB13: The Show video game. The other players were Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Buster Posey of the San Francisco Giants, CC Sabathia of the New York Yankees, Ryan Braun of the Milwaukee Brewers, and Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers. Harper ended up finishing fifth behind the winning cover athlete, McCutchen, but since Harper is still only 20 years old, there is plenty of time for him to make it on the cover in the future.
SI Kids caught up with Harper to find out what he thinks about the new game. Check out the interview and see Harper's videos for the new game after the jump. More »
Most NBA teams have an event at halftime where a fan gets to attempt a halfcourt shot to win a prize. And most of the time the shots result in sad air balls that struggle to reach the foul line. That was certainly not the case when an Atlanta Hawks season ticket holder got his chance during a game against the Utah Jazz last Friday. He made a shot that seemed to defy all laws of physics and gravity when he chucked it with one hand and the ball just froze on top of the rim. Didn't bounce. Didn't move. Just sat there until the M.C. pulled the net to get the ball to go through the hoop. Now if he could only do it with his back to the basket, then we'd really be impressed.

When Robert Griffin III hobbled off the field against the Seattle Seahawks it was the symbolic end of the Washington Redskins season. But it was also the start of some awesomly bad poetry. Griffin tore two ligaments in his right knee as the Skins lost their first playoff appearance since 2007. That prompted Washington Post columnist John Kelly to invite readers to submit poems about RGIII's injury.
One favorite, to the tune of "My Country 'Tis of Thee":
RGIII hurt his knee,
Can't use arthroscopy,
It's torn so bad.
Coach kept him in too long,
Team may have done him wrong,
Just hope it's not his swan song,
Skins' fans so sad.

The jerseys that the NBA's best players will wear at the 62nd All-Star Game on February 17 were revealed on Wednesday. Designed by Adidas, the jerseys are inspired by the aeronautical history of Houston, Texas, which will host All-Star Weekend this year. Specifically, the numbers and lettering is modeled after the stenciled paint on jet planes. The jerseys also feature a subtle camouflage pattern on them.

It's unclear when Chicago Bulls star Derrick Rose will return to the court this season, but when he does he'll have some spiffy new sneakers to wear. Adidas just released images of his newest signature shoe, the D Rose 3.5. The spiral pattern on the shoe is symbolic of Rose's desire to tighten up his game and his hometown receives numerous shout-outs on the shoe, including a "Rooted in Chicago" graphic and a copy of the Chicago flag.
From a performance standpoint, the shoes feature a tight fit which makes them more responsive when making quick cuts on the court. Mesh on the ankle keeps them comfortable while also providing support.
The shoes will be available on January 31 for $160. See more pictures after the jump.
