If you like offensive football, I hope you didn’t watch too much of Week 7. The Seahawks lost in a game where they held their opponent to two field goals. The Jaguars won a game where they only scored four field goals. The Raiders didn’t score at all. Still, all of the ugliness had a huge impact on the rankings, so keep reading to see where your favorite team landed. And as always, leave your thoughts in the comments below!
Howdy football followers. It’s time for our weekly NFL wrap, courtesy of yours truly, the Professor. There is a lot of quarterback news floating around this week, so let’s cut the chitchat and get right down to it.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Mike Napoli was dialed in, no matter who he was going to face.
A charmed season for Napoli and the Texas Rangers got even better Monday night, thanks to a most unlikely twist - a bullpen telephone mix-up.
After a dropped ball and a dropped call, of sorts, loaded the bases in the eighth inning, Napoli delivered a tiebreaking two-run double that beat the St. Louis Cardinals 4-2 and gave Texas a 3-2 edge in the World Series.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- Inning by inning, this World Series is getting more intriguing.
Derek Holland provided the latest twist, boosted by a pregame pep talk from his manager. The Texas lefty shut down the St. Louis Cardinals on two hits into the ninth inning, and the Rangers won 4-0 Sunday to even things at 2-all.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) -- The only drama at the end of this one was whether rookie DeMarco Murray would set the Dallas Cowboys ' franchise rushing record, a remarkable feat considering it's gone from Hall of Famer Tony Dorsett to NFL rushing king Emmitt Smith.
Murray indeed pulled it off, running through a shoddy St. Louis Rams defense for 253 yards, including an early 91-yard touchdown that got the Cowboys started toward a 34-7 victory on Sunday.
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) -- Kyle Boller dropped back on Oakland's first series and threw a pass to the left sideline that Kendrick Lewis intercepted and returned for a touchdown. Carson Palmer did the same to the right side to Brandon Flowers in the fourth quarter.
After all the talk this week about who would start at quarterback for the Oakland Raiders , it didn't much matter. Boller and Palmer were equally bad.
Boller and Palmer each threw three interceptions and the Kansas City Chiefs took advantage of the rusty quarterback play to win their third straight game, beating Oakland 28-0 Sunday in their most lopsided road win ever against the Raiders.
MIAMI (AP) -- Fans chanted Tim Tebow 's name in derision. They hooted as he missed open receivers, got buried under blitzes and kept falling short on third down.
Then he led an improbable comeback that became the latest chapter in the legend of Tebow.
In his first start this year, Tebow rallied the Denver Broncos with two touchdown passes in the final 2:44 of the fourth quarter to force overtime, and Matt Prater 's 52-yard field goal gave them an 18-15 win Sunday over the stunned Miami Dolphins .
