Youkilis Takes a Slim Lead on Teixeira

NEW YORK (AP) -- Boston's Kevin Youkilis has moved back in front of the Yankees' Mark Teixeira with two days left in AL balloting for starters for the All-Star game in St. Louis on July 14.

Youkilis had 1,915,303 votes in totals released Tuesday to Teixeira's 1,875,256. Last week, Teixeira was ahead by 35,632 ballots.

Texas second baseman Ian Kinsler's lead over Boston's Dustin Pedroia was cut to 6,830, down from 58,390 in totals released last week. Kinsler has 2,170,100 votes to Pedroia's 2,163,270.

Manny Set for Return to Bigs

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) -- Ready or not, Manny Ramirez is headed back to the big leagues.

The suspended slugger played what is expected to be his final minor league rehab game Monday night for Class-A Inland Empire, going 1 for 3 with two strikeouts. He is eligible to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night in San Diego after serving a 50-game suspension for violating baseball's drug policy.

Yao's Injury Career-Threatening

HOUSTON (AP) -- Rockets center Yao Ming's broken left foot could be a "career-threatening" injury.

Dr. Tom Clanton, the Houston Rockets' team physician, told the Houston Chronicle on Monday that Yao's injury "has the potential for him missing this next season and could be career-threatening."
